Project Description
The US-19 project in Tarpon Springs is approximately 2.5 kilometers in length in North Pinellas County, Florida. The project consists of roadway and bridge construction from a four-lane to a six-lane arterial. The existing bridge was removed and replaced by a six land cast-in-place, flat-slab concrete bridge. Approximately 2.4 kilometers of roadway construction is also included with utility and drainage work along US-19. The project incorporated a Value Engineering Change Proposal (VECP) to delete the new bridge crossing at Pinellas Trail and install a precast tunnel system under US-19. Precast systems were also used to install the box culvert under the US-19 roadway. Three special detours were implemented to keep the earthwork operations off of the critical path. Pile driving operations were completed on a restricted pile-driving schedule at the direction of the owner.
