Project Description
The Kyrene Reclamation Facility currently treats 4.5 MGD of wastewater, then the water can be used again for irrigation. The building was designed to blend in with the surrounding parks, residential areas and businesses. The entire process is located underground, in specially designed tanks. Treated water from this facility (reclaimed water) is provided to the Ken McDonald Golf Course for irrigation and to the Salt River Project (SRP) Power Generating Station for cooling. Residual solids left over from the wastewater treatment are sent on to the 91st Avenue Wastewater Treatment Plant in Phoenix.
